Ida Finzi (Ida Samoil Issak Finzi)

A multi-faceted powerful voice is in the petite person. Ida Finzi inspired both with her fascinating tone color and her stage performance. She graduated in opera singing from the State Academy of Music in Sofia with Prof. Hristo Brambarov, whose assistant she also became. She was a soloist at the Plovdiv Opera and at the Sofia State Music Theater. Her repertoire included operas and operetta roles in lyrical coloratura. Ida Finzi was the first singer to sing all four female roles in Jacques Offenbach's opera The Tales of Hoffmann. She was also the first Eliza Doulittle in "My fair Lady" (Loewe) of Bulgaria. She made her debut at the Plovdiv Opera as Violetta (La Traviata, Verdi), followed by Rosina (Rossini), Konstanze (Mozart), Gilda (Verdi) and many other roles. Parallel to her opera career, she became famous with her Sephardic songs.
